Artist Statement

"I paint in oils and draw in inks.

I speed my brush over the surface, outpacing all thought and concern, and watch it play its magic. I trust in beauty to settle on the canvas: all fretting subsides. Eventually, I interfere. That's when the work begins. I feature people abiding their adventurous lives.

The world hums with tales. Exposed to their environment and fellow human beings, everyone stumbles through their lives in their own personal manner. Things might seem calm and peaceful, or tricky, even hazardous. How do people cope? Some contemplate their situation, others lose their head, or their balance. I am here to frame their story.

I want my creatures to reach out to their viewers for a comment, to ask them for acknowledgement, recognition, compassion, or just a laugh."
